By: TS

Chinese companies make more and more investments abroad. Goals for those investments are raw materials, but also acquisition of knowledge and access to markets.

For a long time chinese companies invested most often in home markets and near-by regions as Hong Kong. But since China joined the world trade organization WTO chinese foreign direct investments grow rapidly. In 2005 foreign direct investments have been around 12,3 billion USD (123% more than the year before). In 2006 foreign direct investments reached 65% more than 2005. An estimation of MofCom (Ministry of Commerce) says that annual growth rates of 20% are expected up to 2010.
